Painting with a big brush and lots of paint
Tribute To An Inspiration

My Grand Old Gal
I lost one of my inspirations Monday December 15, 2014. My Grandmother was an artist, she painted in oils, and proudly displayed my art my whole life. I remember being stretched out on the floor at my grandparents home in Kansas drawing characters from the newspaper comics for my Grandfather and Grandmother. I remember giving her a pencil drawing of an old barn that I carefully drew and matted when I was 7 or 8, and I remember when she went into the nursing home she asked me to finish a painting she started. That ended up being the most important comission of my career.
Grandma Beckett was a grand old lady of 97 years. A lady of character, kindness, and a wonderful laugh. I am so glad she shared her passion for art with me, and I will never forget her.
I believe artists die when the last of the sacred inspirations in life go away, I lost one of mine and so a part of me dies with her.
Love you always Grandma
