Wonder of the West

Dramatic skies are what first inspired me to paint and I continue to chase these fleeting moments. I was out getting ready to feed livestock and was absolutely stunned by this extradorinaiy sunset. I didn't have time to capture it all on canvas, and experience has taught me that a camera won't capture the subtle color or at least the way I was experiencing it in the moment, so I put down some quick color notes of paint and finished the painting in my studio. Painting in the field is always fleeting but sunsets are gone in a wink!
